The Virgo/Pisces Full Moon:
February 28 – March 1, 2010
“You have to belong to yourSelf before you can give up your Self.”
The Full Moon in Virgo occurs on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at 11:38am EST/ 8:38am PST.
This month, we find ourselves in the ‘in-between’ space where the formless Piscean ocean meets the cultivated landscape of Virgo. The End, the Beginning and the Harvest. Water and Earth. Change and Stability. Spirit and Soul. Union and Uniqueness. Surrender and Service.
The elements of these signs are water and earth, containers and sustainers, with both elements and signs considered feminine. This is a source of Creativity within us, which calls forth the Sacred within us. Call on the Goddess this month and ask for a dream, a vision, an awakening. This is the time to be receptive, not active.
This means spend some time listening to your 5 senses and to your imagination before you act on anything. Use your ‘uncommon senses’ and stay open to Spirit. Be receptive to the moment and see how you dance with it.
When we’re rigid in our sense of self, we don’t dance very well with the All. But when our sense of Self is deep, our dance, like the Dancer on the Greater Trump, The World, can create peace and unity. In opening to these greater energies, we become a channel for a new Creation.
Part of our service to the world is to learn to be at peace with ourselves so that we can create peace with everyone we come in contact with. We can create a loving space that enlivens Spirit with every Being we contact, once we connect to the Divine Spirit within ourselves and learn to know and love ourselves. This is the Pisces/Virgo task.
This Pisces/Virgo full Moon calls us to be healers of each other. Compassion and discernment are the values to cultivate, while we learn to see the Sacred in our ordinary lives. We are all wounded; we can all be healed. Loving ourselves enough to take the time to heal ourselves is the goal. If we can do it, then perhaps we’ll learn to see our fellow beings with compassion and understanding.
It is hard to love ourselves, but if we can’t, how will we ever trust ourselves enough to let go and dissolve into the mystic
Piscean unity that this full Moon opens for us?
The 6th and 12th houses, the Virgo – Pisces axis, are concerned with ‘improvement’. Improvement means to benefit. Improvement implies growth and evolution. This full Moon gives us the opportunity to benefit from the deeper archetypal vision we discovered last month. You improve when you have a bigger vision to bounce off of. You expand and evolve your understanding of life when you have a big vision. And it gives you courage to stand up for what you believe in.
We’ll also benefit from the presence of Jupiter conjoined the Sun this full Moon. Jupiter expands and enlivens whatever it touches. It makes us curious enough to explore the Unknown. The Sun is our sense of Self and purpose, so Jupiter, which rules Pisces along with Neptune (remember the Neptune/Chiron/Jupiter conjunctions last year) is infusing the Piscean sense of Mystical Union with last year’s collective Aquarian egalitarian vision. Our purpose is to feel that we are all in this together, that we are one family, one world.
Venus and Uranus add compassion and the possibility of revelation to the full Moon energy. Venus and Uranus are moving through the end of Pisces, conjoining at 26*Pisces on March 3rd. The Sabian Symbol for 26*Pisces is: Watching the very thin crescent moon appearing at sunset, different people realize that the time has come to go ahead with their different projects. This symbol speaks for itself. The crescent moon is a time of struggle to bring the new Moon vision into reality.
This image for the union of Venus/Aphrodite and Uranus is timely, for Aphrodite/Love is born from the union of Uranus’ severed phallus (his creative revelations) and the waters of the Collective Unconscious (our longing for a greater life). As our consciousness evolves into a mystical union of conscious and unconscious, we will know the time is right to manifest our visions.
Our society is in the midst of transformation, just as our private lives are undergoing change and transformation. Where are we headed? What do we want our future to look like? You each have the power to affect our collective future. Trust that you have something to share.
With Jupiter conjoined the Sun in Pisces and opposed to the Virgo full Moon, we’ll have plenty of opportunity to ride the Piscean waves into other dimensions if we can let go of fear and control (Virgo issues) and our addictions (Pisces issues). Jupiter urges us to push beyond our old beliefs, dive deeply into the Unknown and come back with something new that benefits all of us.
We need Virgo’s self-knowledge and desire to serve in order to surrender it to the greater whole of Piscean Spirit. You have to belong to yourself before you can give up your Self.
Last month at the full Moon we reclaimed our mythic identities to enhance our sense of purpose, so that at the new Moon in Aquarius we could envision a new world together. This full Moon in Virgo invites us to become the servant of that vision, to improve it through the creative imagination so we can begin to manifest it in our lives when Mars goes direct and the Sun goes into Aries.
Mars, still retrograde, is starting to slow down as it hits 1*Leo, where it will change direction on March 10. We used this Mars energy last month to dive into the inner fires of Leo to discover our archetypal identities. The Sabian Symbol for 1*Leo: Blood rushes to a man’s head as his vital energies are mobilized under the spur of ambition. This symbol implies that there will be an eruption of biological and psychic energies now if we are ambitious for change. So use the energies well.
We’re still engaged in the Pluto in Capricorn, Saturn in Libra square, so watch how the old rubs up against the new in yourself and in society and see what crumbles under the pressure. Saturn urges us to stand on the side of social relationships and justice, which will force the powers-that-be to make changes, whether they like it or not. The same goes for your ego – what you thought was important might begin to lose its luster. Concentrate on your personal relationships for the next month, before Saturn backs up into Virgo on April 7 for another go – around with health, work and discipline issues.
Neptune and Chiron are now conjoined with Mercury (Neptune and Mercury on February 27) once again opening the channels of communication between minds and enlivening our imagination. Who are you communicating with in your dreams, in your meditations, in your visions? What are you learning?
This full Moon in Virgo offers a discerning attention to detail as well as a willingness to serve the larger Piscean vision. The Sabian symbol for 10*Virgo speaks to the ability to get beyond the dualistic shadows our minds create to a more objective, transcendent vision. Two heads looking out and beyond the shadows. This symbol implies the growth of true understanding, born out of the transcendence of duality even while immersed in the world of duality. To see beyond the Shadow implies an ability to become conscious of the wounds and darkness within us and to integrate that energy into a new outlook on life.
Both Jupiter and the Sun are conjoined at 10* Pisces: An aviator pursues his journey, flying through ground-obscuring clouds. This symbol implies that human beings have the ability to develop powers and skills which, by transcending natural limitations, allow us to operate in mental-spiritual realms. Like last month’s Aquarian Experiment, this is a time to practice mental telepathy, creative visualizations and dreaming. We have to awaken our ‘uncommon senses’ and learn how to use these abilities.
Jupiter will bring us luck, faith and confidence on our journey, even when we’re flying blind through clouds and fog. Just remember to go with the Piscean flow!
