Taurus/Scorpio Full Moon Newsletter
In studying astrology, “. . .we interact creatively and unpredictably with our birth charts, [knowing] that all astrological symbols are multidimensional and are modulated into material and psychic expression by the consciousness of the individual." Steven Forrest
What do you value more than anything else in the world?
What would you be willing to die for?
How ready are you to let go of that part of yourself that must die in order that you might have new life?
Welcome to the Taurus/Scorpio Full Moon!
This Full Moon is another super Moon, being at its closest point to the earth. Watch for a beautiful, big moon rising!
This full moon in two power signs (Taurus & Scorpio) asks us to grapple with questions of large import. It says that sometimes our decisions are a matter of life or death. It asks us to contemplate what our earthly sojourn is really all about.
Beltane, the ancient Celtic Festival of Summer, takes place during Taurus on May 1st. Samhain, the Celtic Festival of Winter, takes place opposite Beltane on the wheel of the year during Scorpio on November 1st. The Life-Force blossoming during Taurus evokes passion and procreation. The Life-Force dies during Scorpio, leaving awareness and transformation in its wake. When these two energies intermingle during the Taurus-Scorpio Full Moon, we can offer the best of ourselves for renewal to the cycle of life. We can let go of fear and descend with Persephone to the Underworld to reclaim those lost parts of ourselves that want new life. It’s all about the seeds of the future that lie hidden in the Underworld of our psyches.
The Eleusinian Mysteries of Persephone and Demeter were celebrated in the ancient world for over 2000 years, and none of the thousands of people who underwent initiation ever told the secret that they witnessed during these rites. But we do know that those initiates were no longer afraid of death. Somehow they received an experience that gave them the sure knowledge that death was not the end of life.
Persephone is the Queen of the Underworld and of the Dead during the winter months, and she is the harbinger of New Life when she returns to Earth in the Spring. She meets us in both places – with the living and with the dead. We can imagine that her mysteries taught that just as she brings life back to the Earth, she brings life back to our souls. There is no death, only transformation. “As above, so below. As within, so without.” The alchemical fires burn even in death, for Life Herself is there to greet us.
What Scorpio transmutes is our darker feelings, our unacknowledged desires, our stuck passions. When the light of the Taurus full moon shines on those intense feelings, we get a chance to see which desires want our attention, which feelings are necessary to our self-worth, which passions point us to new life. The Taurus concern with our deepest values is reflected back to the Scorpio mysteries of life and death. The Phoenix aspect of Scorpio gives us the ability to renew ourselves and our values and desires. See where the Taurus-Scorpio axis lies in your chart and notice which planets it is affecting at 3 degrees of the fixed signs. These houses and planets are ready for major revelations and a more life-enhancing reorientation.
The Sabian Symbols for this Full Moon are:
3 Taurus: “Natural steps lead to a lawn of clover in bloom.” The gradual expansion of individual consciousness after a fecundating experience.
3 Scorpio: “A house-raising party in a small village enlists the neighbors’ cooperation.” The feeling of community demonstrated in a basic joint effort.
This full moon assures us we can achieve natural fulfillment through our cooperation with others. In Scorpio, we enter emotionally into the larger life of the culture.
Some of the other astrological aspects affecting this full moon are:
1. A Venus-Uranus-Jupiter T-Square – 15-18 degrees of Mutable signs.
Uranus in Pisces wants us to develop a philosophy of life that will give us faith in humanity’s future. This belief and inner knowing creates a deep awareness in Venus in Virgo to be of service to the world. Jupiter in Sagittarius inspires us to not give up hope in these dark times. Open up your mind to the big picture and see that we are indeed in the End Times, the death aspect of the cycle of life. We need to develop trust that we can get through the death, negativity, hypocrisy and crisis of our times, and we need to go out and inspire all of those people who don’t know how to navigate these rough waters. Become a living example of emotional maturity, and step out of your comfort zones and engage your talents in the world. This aspect can help us develop into the teachers and leaders that the world is looking for. It is time to bring our ideals into action.
2. October 28th – Pluto conjoins the Galactic Center at 26 56’ Sagittarius for the third and last time.
At the heart of the Milky Way Galaxy is a super-massive Black Hole, 4,000,000 times larger than our Sun that transmits enormous amounts of electromagnetic energy. When the planet of evolution contacts this energy field, it provides support for releasing old patterns and beliefs about humanity’s possibilities for greater awareness of our inner divinity and interconnectedness. We are living in a time of prophecy, and we have to take our role as Awakeners seriously.
3. October 19 – Chiron turns direct at 11 Aquarius.
You can move forward with some aspect of healing your mind/body now.
4.October 21 – Saturn conjoins the South Node at 6 Virgo.
This aspect can attract karmic situations that teach us humility.
5. October 23 – Sun goes into Scorpio; Mercury goes back into Libra.
6. October 31 – Halloween! And Neptune goes direct at 19 15’ Aquarius.
7. November 1 – Mercury goes direct at 23 23’ Libra
8. Sunday November 4 – daylight savings time ends. Turn clocks back one hour.
Movies:
Across the Universe. A must see. The 60’s are coming back astrologically in the next few years with the Uranus/Pluto/Saturn T-square building to its first challenge. And this movie is certainly part of our remembering who we were then and deciding how we want to act now. Across the Universe is a Beatles’ musical about the ‘60’s. The Beatles themselves could have made this movie. It is a Magical mystery tour of a movie. Poignant, brilliant at times, funny, intelligent, psychedelic. A must see, especially to those of you who love the Beatles. They would be proud of this movie. 3 Thumbs up!
The Seeker: The Dark is Rising. Don’t bother with this one, especially if you love the book. No thumbs up.
