Well, Fall is in the air, even in Las Vegas!  And I know the trees are
turning in New England, the air is getting crisp, and the apples are
waiting to be baked in pies.  This week brings us the Fall Equinox on
Sunday, September 23rd and the very big Harvest Full Moon on Wednesday,
September 26th.  The Full Moon will appear very large because the moon
is at its closest point in orbit to Earth.  This will be true for the
next three full moons.  Go out at sunset and watch this ancient Goddess
of time, rhythms, tides, and imagination shine out her beauty and work
    her magic on you.

This past week leading up to the Autumn Equinox has continued this
summer’s theme of the ‘pressure cooker from hell’  - and I’m not just
referring to the 116- degree temperatures in Las Vegas.  Or the
flooding throughout the rest of the country.  This summer’s planetary
activity has kept us on our collective toes, holding each of us
responsible for reviewing and redefining our lives.

Since the June Summer Solstice, we’ve experienced:
    1.  the last opposition of Saturn in Leo with Neptune in Aquarius,
forcing us out of illusions to face reality.  Also asking us to hone
our vision of the future and find ways to make it a priority in our
    lives.
    2.  Venus going retrograde and then direct, asking us to re-evaluate
what our values and priorities really are.  And asking us to make
ritual and art out of them, as well as love.
    3.  Saturn leaving Leo for its 2 + years in Virgo, asking us to really
integrate our bodies, minds and spirit.
    4.  Pluto turning direct.
    5.  Two eclipses, one on 9/11.
    6.  Sun-Mars-Pluto T-square – this past week.

That’s a lot of work we’ve all been doing.  So what have you harvested?
What did you find out about yourself this summer?  What did you learn
about your values?  What did you learn about your dreams?  This is your
harvest.  Honor it with Virgo ritual.  For Virgo says – bring
everything you are together into a whole.  Integrate yourself.  Then
make an offering of it to Spirit to make it sacred.  Then get ready for
the real you to step out into the world.  Bring your light and power
into the world – not for yourself, but because the world needs you.

With this lead-up to the Autumn Equinox, we will all benefit from
taking the time to create or go to a ritual to help restore balance in
ourselves and in the world.  And to ask help from Spirit.  (V.A.
Principle #4:  The only way the gods know we’re asking for help is
    ritual.)

On Sunday, September 23, 2007 the Sun enters the sign of Libra – the
sign of relationships, fairness and justice.  This is the day dark and
light are once again balanced.  Unlike the Spring Equinox, however, the
light is waning and the dark is rising.  We have to prepare for the
Wintertime of the year.   With Libra’s ruler, Venus, starting to move
forward again in Leo, a little ritual and theater might be just the
thing to get our bodies relaxed, sooth our senses, and get clear-eyed
about what we’ve harvested from this turbulent year’s growing season.

The Full Moon and the Autumn Equinox charts are very similar, so I’ll
talk about them together.  The Equinox chart will characterize the fall
    season until the Winter Solstice.

The Full Moon is in Aries, which is ruled by Mars, while the Sun is in
Libra, which is ruled by Venus.  Both rulers of this full moon are
coming out of oppositions to what astrologers call their ‘higher
octave’ or their more spiritual aspects.  Venus, the Goddess of Love,
Beauty, Connection, and personal love wants to integrate Neptune, the
planet of Compassion, Imagination and Spirituality.  Mars, the God of
War and defender of his people, representing our personal desires and
our will, wants to learn from Pluto, Divine intention and evolution.
With these energies in play, this Full Moon’s message is to our
collective consciousness:  It is time to be more compassionate, it is
time to evolve out of our old idea of a warrior as fighting death (or
terrorists) to a warrior as one who defends life.  We are all called
upon to become spiritual warriors this Full Moon, both in our personal
lives and in our public lives.

Here is a sampling of what these planets have been up to this past week.

This week we’ve been in the middle of an energetic vortex consisting of
the Sun (our individual identity – the essence of life), Mars (our
will, directing our life energy and desires) and Pluto (the
evolutionary force of Spirit, both in ourselves and in nature).  The
energies are all powerful and each is determine to get it’s own way!
Mythologically, these planets represent masculine energies – directed,
outgoing, aggressive, focused, creative and destructive.  The Sun –
Father God, Mars – Warrior God, and Pluto – Underworld God.  Imagine
them playing war games with each other.  That’s what this week’s
    T-square can feel like.

Mars in Gemini and the Sun in Virgo squared off on Monday, September
17th, possibly igniting a war of words.   With both planets in
Mercury-rules signs, did you get into an argument?  Or have a feisty
conversation?   Since squares represent challenges and Mars demands
action, we were challenged to act according to our best and highest
interests.  We might have felt assertive, aggressive, ambitious,
feisty! Or over-extended. If so, what did you learn about how you use
your energy and your words?  The Republicans decided to put their
energy and words into having the Senate denounce MoveOn.org for an ad
they developed on bringing the troops home.  And to limit leave for
    troops serving in Iraq.

On Wednesday, September 19th, the Sun squared off with Pluto in
Sagittarius, challenging us to release old habits that no longer serve
us, shedding old skins and identities.  Or perhaps you got caught up in
your old complexes!  What did you learn about yourself?  What is power
to you?  And do you own your own power?  The Senate minority blocked
legislation to restore the right of Habeas Corpus, which has been
stripped away in the wake of the present ‘war on terror’.  This
principle that no government is above the law and that all detainees
can challenge the fairness of their detention in front of an
independent court has been a cornerstone of Anglo-Saxton legal systems
    for 800 years.

On Friday, September 21st, Pluto opposes Mars, from Sagittarius to
Gemini. How do our beliefs fuel our desires, our thoughts and our
actions?  If we don’t take ownership of what we really want, someone
else will come along to tell us what we need. This is an aspect of
power plays.  Or if you work with the energies, you can become
empowered by living and expressing your beliefs.  Look at the case of
the Jena 6.  The racial power plays are still strong in our country,
and this case could ignite the beginning of a new civil rights’
    movement.

Pluto is considered the higher octave of Mars, meaning that Mars
symbolizes our individual desire nature while Pluto symbolizes the
higher evolutionary designs of Spirit.  Since Mars will turn retrograde
in November and oppose Pluto three times through March 7th, this first
opposition will tell you a lot about what issues will be up for
transformation for you and our world.  This is about aligning ourselves
with our destiny.  Of course, check to see where the last degrees of
    Gemini/Sag lie in your chart.

The easiest outlet for this energy is Anger, sometimes, explosive
anger.  And with everything else happening this week, it could indicate
earthquakes.  So take it easy and try to stay patient.  The other guy
    probably won’t.

At the same time on Friday, September 21st, Venus at 20 degrees of Leo
makes her last opposition to Neptune at 20 Aquarius.  Remember to
connect (Venus) to your imagination (Neptune) and see the dreams and
the love you want to magnetize into your life.  And then ask the most
conscious Mars-Pluto energy to ‘Make it so!”  I found a movie on AMC
called “Random Harvest” which is such a Venus opposite Neptune movie.
A dancer/singer (Venus) helps a WWI amnesiac escape from the hospital
(Neptune) and she nurses him back to health.  They marry and love each
other until an accident jars his memory of his former life – and he
forgets her and the years they’ve been together.  I won’t give away the
    end!

The Sabian symbols for this full moon urge us to understand the power
of relationship on all levels – between you and another person as well
as the relationship between the inner masculine and feminine energies
within each one of us.  If we are ever to achieve a peaceful standpoint
in the world, it has to start within each one of us.  That means
understanding and working with your own energies.  Dreams are the most
personal way of understanding how you use your energies.  Dreams speak
to you from your Soul.  Dreams open you to self-knowledge.

Sabian symbol for 4 Aries:  “Two lovers strolling on a secluded walk.”
The progressive polarization of energies needed for fulfilling one’s
    life functions.

Sabian symbol for 4 Libra: “Around a campfire, a group of young people
sit in spiritual communion.”   The necessity to unite with kindred
spirits as one enters unbeaten paths illumined by the still-insecure
light of a dawning intuition of new values.

Visualize your goals for the next three months and do a ritual during
the full moon.  Go out and connect with like-minded people who share
your ideals and values.  And have another communal ritual.  The more
    the better!

    Movies:

Watch for “The Seeker” coming out in the beginning of October.  This is
based on a wonderful children’s book called “The Dark is Rising” by
Susan Cooper.  Buy the book and read it on Winter Solstice, which is
when it begins.  I gather the filmmakers brought it up to date (it was
in the ‘60’s in England) so I don’t know how good it will be.
